I'm assuming that by "HP keyboard", they are referring to HP's standard keyboard in which the keys are pretty much butted up against each other. They are so close together that they are almost touching. An island style keyboard is the same thing as a "chicklet keyboard" in which the keys are separated from one another. They keys often resemble chicklet gum especially if they are hard. Also, take a look at the keys, you'll see that each one is separated like each one is an independent "island".

The are the same thing but if it is hp tx2-1020us or some thing that is a prebulit version as for hp tx2z if a customizable version
The HP Pavilion G6 series has a unique keyboard and mouse configuration. The touch pad is an unique one with several effects. The keyboard is Chiclets keyboard which is very soft and comfortable to type. The keyboard has a NUM-Pad too... the only con is that the arrow cursors are too small.
