kelly ball test

  • This is a simple field test consisting of the measurement of the indentation made by15 cm diameter metal hemisphere weighing 13.6 kg. when freely placed on fresh concrete. The test has been devised by Kelly and hence known as Kelly Ball Test. This has not beencovered by Indian Standards Specification. The advantages of this test is that it can beperformed on the concrete placed in site and it is claimed that this test can be performed fasterwith a greater precision than slump test.

slump test

  • Slump test is the most commonly used method of measuring consistency of concretewhich can be employed either in laboratory or at site of work. It is not a suitable method forvery wet or very dry concrete. It does not measure all factors contributing to workability, noris it always representative of the placability of the concrete.
  • The appartus for conducting the slump test essentially consists of a metallic mould in theform of a frustum of a cone having the internal dimensions as under:
Bottom diameter : 20 cm
Top diameter : 10 cm
Height : 30 cm

A kelly ball test measures the workability of concrete by determining the depth of penetration of a steel ball under its own weight. A slump test measures the consistency and workability of concrete by observing how much a concrete cone slumps after a mold is removed. Both tests are used to assess the quality and workability of concrete mixtures for construction projects.

What is the difference between a football and a soccer ball?

The main difference between a football and a soccer ball is their shape and size. A football is oval-shaped and larger, typically used in American football, while a soccer ball is round and smaller, used in the sport of soccer. Additionally, the materials and design of the two balls differ to suit the specific requirements of each sport.

What is the difference between a red rubber ball and a green apple?

A red rubber ball is typically round and made of rubber, used for bouncing and playing games. A green apple is a fruit that grows on trees, typically round in shape, has a sweet or tart flavor, and is edible. The main difference lies in their composition, purpose, and characteristics.

What force makes a ball curve on a spinning carousel?

The Magnus effect is the force responsible for making a ball curve on a spinning carousel. As the ball moves through the air, the spin creates a pressure difference between the top and bottom sides of the ball, causing a sideways force that makes it curve.

You push the ball with force of 22.8N which induces a -2.3N frictional force. what is the net force while you push the ball?

The net force is the difference between the applied force and the frictional force: 22.8N - 2.3N = 20.5N.

When I screw a ball is thrown air speed and pressure react according to?

When you throw a ball with a spin (screwball), the airflow on the ball creates a pressure difference between the two sides, causing it to curve. The rotation of the ball affects its trajectory by creating lift, stability, and drag forces. The speed of the throw will also affect the overall flight path of the ball.
