They are very similar items but a jig is usually a formed brace that holds precut items while the final product is being welded or joined in some matter. An example of this would be the frame that holds the pieces of a steel gate together while it is welded together. This jig would keep it square and flat and the exact size

A template in general is a form that has the finished shape and size on it that is used comparatively to an item being manufactured. The template can be used to scribe a shape onto a piece of wood. The wood would then be cut to shape for example the scroll top of a bed head

How do you tell the difference between an Irish jig and an Irish reel?

An Irish Jig has a 6/8 Tempo, while an Irish Reel has a 4/4 Tempo. An Irish musician put it to me this way: If you can say "Black and Decker, Black and Decker" to the music, then it's a reel. If you can say "rashers and sausages, rashers and sausages," it's a jig.

None. The template is actually an existing document (usually without text) that stores all shortcuts or formatting that has been already prepared. Using some other existing document as a template has the same logic but you should erase existing text first. :-)
