A street rod would be built more for show, and with strictly street use in mind. A hot rod is usually built more with performance in mind, rather than appearance. Hence, containing parts that are designed more for race use than street. Example: bigger cam and heads, higher stall converter, more aggressive shifting trans, lower rear gears.
