In terms of mythology, both are fairly identical. Both the basilisk and the cockatrice can kill with a glance, and both are said to be able to kill with poisonous breath. However, the difference between the two is this:
A basilisk is a serpent or frog egg hatched by a rooster, and is usually depicted as being more serpent-like. It also is fairly small, not bigger than six inches, in fact, however much the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets movie tries to tell you otherwise.
There is also a real animal called a basilisk, for it's ability to walk on water, and the mythological basilisk is about the same size as it's real life counterpart.
A cockatrice, however, is a rooster egg hatched by a serpent or frog, and is usually depicted as being half rooster and half serpent, like in this picture:
scene 5,lines 19-20Juliet talks about the "death-darting eye of cockatrice" in III ii 47. The cockatrice was a mythological beast similar to the basilisk, involving the tail of a snake and the body, wings and head of a chicken. Like a basilisk a cockatrice could kill with a look.
A basilisk is born from a serpent's egg being hatched by a rooster or a hen.A cockatrice is born from a hen's egg hatched by a serpent.Or...From the Cockatrice article on Wikipedia:"The translation from basiliscus to cockatrice was effected when the basiliscus in Bartholomeus Anglicus' De proprietatibus rerum (ca 1260) was translated by John Trevisa as cockatrice (1397).[5]5. Breiner 1979:35."
If you mean the mythological basilisk, it's born of a serpent egg that's been hatched by a chicken or rooster. The opposite is true of a cockatrice, as the serpent hatches the hen's egg.
It's called the Basilisk or Cockatrice. Look on google for Mythological creatures and go to the first site you see, then type those names in if you want to know more.
A cockatrice's spirit is to turn others into stone. For example, in my little pony the cockatrice turned twilight and the chicken into stone.
No, Cockatrice is free in its entirety. Cards are stored in a database.
Two similar mythical creatures, the cockatrice and the basilisk, have the head of a rooster and the body of a snake. Both creatures are said to be able to kill with their breath and turn people to stone with a glance.
You don't you actually use it to make a spirit cockatrice puch.
A chicken with a snake tail is often referred to as a "chimera" or a "hybrid." It is a fictional creature created through a mix of different animals.
The cockatrice was supposed to come from an egg laid by a cock (i.e. a male chicken) and incubated by a toad
The German word for basilisk is Basilisk.
The Cockatrice egg is a "bonus" drop from a Cockatrice (level 37 combat), which makes it among regular drops from this creature. It is used in Herblore and Summoning.Herblore: used to create summoning potions.Summoning: used to create Spirit cockatrice pouches to summon Spirit cockatrices. It can`t be incubated at a pet shop. They can also be made from a normal chicken egg by using the Spirit cobra's scroll Ophidian Incubation. Also note that having a Spirit Cockatrice familiar seems to boost the odds of getting the drop of a cockatrice egg while fighting against Cockatrices, and the Spirit Cockatrice will also create one every now and then.
