hey reader,

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) are both popular degrees in the field of business, but they cater to different academic and professional stages. A BBA is an undergraduate program typically designed for students who are starting their journey in business education. It provides a foundational understanding of various business concepts, such as marketing, finance, human resources, and management. The BBA program is aimed at equipping students with essential skills for entry-level positions in the corporate world, allowing them to explore various business functions before deciding on a specific career path.

In contrast, an MBA is a graduate-level program intended for individuals who already possess a bachelor's degree and often have some professional work experience. The MBA curriculum delves deeper into advanced business concepts and strategic management practices, preparing students for leadership and managerial roles. It focuses on critical thinking, analytical skills, and decision-making, enabling graduates to tackle complex business challenges and drive organizational success. An MBA often includes opportunities for specialization in areas such as finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, and operations management, making it ideal for those looking to advance their careers or shift to higher positions in the business hierarchy.

Dear Reader

BBA is Bachelor of Business Administration, suggested by its name, a Graduate degree mainly to equip students with fundamental knowledge of business principles and operations. However, an MBA is a Master of Business Administration, a pivotal and master level program. A BBA degree is a bachelor’s level program that inculcates skills like critical thinking, communication, and effective written expression to concentrate on the fundamentals of business management, covering areas such as finance, marketing, management, entrepreneurship, and organisational behaviour. While an MBA degree delves deeper into business concepts, offering a comprehensive understanding of management principles, strategic decision-making, and leadership. It concentrates mainly on advanced technical skills, strategic thinking and effective decision making.

Being a student at Lovely Mittal School of Business, I completed BBA in regular mode from here even though LPU offers BBA with specialisation in Tourism and Hospitality and BBA (Hons) as well. Now I am pursuing an MBA (International Business). Completing both the degrees from LPU has its own experience. But yes, definitely it’s like a ladder for me to achieve my goal of successful entrepreneurship.

Good Question. I have only one answer.

So that one can study Business Administration at the undergraduate level.

MBA is not just an extension of BBA. As you said, any graduate can enroll for the Master of Business Administration programme offered by most Indian universities. But what if I wanted to study Business Administration at the undergraduate level and had no plans of studying further for an MBA degree? You have to admit, although the BBA degree may not be advanced as the MBA degree, someone who wasn't interested in say Commerce, Arts, or Computer Applications(as you pointed out in your example) would have to study a subject he/she wasn't interested in for three whole years before he/she could learn the subject of his/her choice, in this case being Business Administration, if BBA was not available. If I wanted to study Business Administration, and BBA was not available, I would have to study something that I wasn't interested in, just to get to the point where I could start learning the subject of my choice, basically wasting three years of my life on some subject I had no plans to specialising in. Would you call that fair? Not all BBA graduates go on to study MBA. Some enter the workforce right after their graduation, armed with a BBA degree and a sound knowledge of Business Administration.
