The patent date should be just in from of the bolt under the rear sight. But only if it is a bolt action!!!!
Probably made in the last part of the 1950's after December 1956, there wil be an assembly date code on the barrel.
Sears, the 583.19 has a roll mark date of 11/28/49. Sears has a safety recall on this specific model shotgun you should be aware of before firing.
