What is the black thing on the back of the third generation ipod touch?

It is to fit a camera you would go to Apple to do this. Send it to Apple, yell at them to give you a camera for it and install the camera app. They'll split the iPod in half and peel off the black thing like a scab and the iPod will scream and then shove a camera into it.

It's the wi-fi antenna. It picks up the wi-fi signals so safari and other apps can use the internet.

The black thing at the back is a Wi-Fi antennor, the iTouch cannot pick up Wi-Fi signals well through chromed metal, so they just put a little black thing at the back. :)
