The Nintendo DS is the best selling video game console of all time.

so far the Nintendo DSi is the most popular handheld and the Wii is the most popular TV gaming system, however the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 is catching up. The DSi is popular because you can record sounds, take pictures, you can go on the internet, shop and more. The next thing is the Xbox 360 is coming out with an upgrade that can take pictures and remember your face when go on, Internet, and more! They are also talking about an upgrade for the Wii, they are thinking of taking photos just like the Xbox, because the Wii already gets Internet etc. ( Updated January 17.2010).

April 7th 2011 UPDATE

XBOX 360 and PS3 are about even right now, but Nintendo is dead for now.

Wii has become less popular to the point where even good old Mario has taken a sizable blow. PS3 and XBOX 360 both have motion games now and the technology is better than the Wii. Also, PS3 and XBOX 360 have the same games (Wii has nothing but Mario, which again is slow.) PS3 has Gran Turismo for it as well as some other games. XBOX has HALO which means a lot along with Forza Motorsport all to itself.

HANDHELDS- Nintendo is OK here since it has DSi and 3DS (bad 3D graphics) and is one of two out there. PSP is good, but PSP2 is coming by spring 2012 and will take over the handheld market. (Unless Nintendo cooks up some new games) XBOX currently doesn't make a handheld, but if they did it would instantly take a large spot, no doubt knocking Nintendo out of contention.

In the end XBOX and PS3 are pretty close, but with games XBOX wins, quality built PS3 but they are about even.

Dsi definitely owns handheld, hands down (no pun intended) .

The Nintendo Wii U is coming out and I highly recommend buying it. It has HD, better graphics, it has an actual controller + some motion control, and all your favorites like Bioshock, Assasin's Creed, and Battlefield are coming to it. It is going to be awesome. I even heard rumors that Sony and Microsoft are scared of this thing.
