Hormonal contraception stops the menstrual cycle so that you no longer ovulate, thus also in turn you don't menstruate - the idea that hormonal contraception regulates your periods/cycles is thus a myth. People still see regular bleeds on most forms of hormonal contraception, for example on the pill, but this is a withdrawal bleed caused by hormonal drops when going from active to inactive bleeds rather than regular menstruation you'd get with a healthy menstrual cycle.
