Battery's only last s long as you take care of them. Usually a year or more. But if you run them down and don't recharge them afterwards or run them hot they wear out faster. If you store them in a too hot or too cold place they give-out faster. I usually use two batteries and switch them out, this lets one cool down and recharge while I use the other one. If you leave the battery on the charger too long that can also damage the battery. So take care of them and read the instructions that comes with the unit about batteries.
