Hearing is something that happens when the sound hits your eardrum and its converted to signals which the auditory nerves send to the brain and the brain interprets them as sounds.

Listening is a skill, where you interpret the sounds signals into a message which then can be acted upon or reacted to (such as giving an answer, or taking some action as responding to a command).

Hearing is the physical act of sound waves entering the ear, while listening involves paying attention and interpreting the sounds that are heard. Listening requires mental processing and understanding, whereas hearing is simply the reception of sound.
