I have one and love it. Shoots spot on with either barrel. Kicks like a mule but hits hard. Love how tight it is and hope it never loosens up. Has screw in chokes and selector for which barrel shoots first. Not great to look at but I don't buy weapons just to look at.

First what type of shotgun is it? i.e. side by side, over under, auto loading... E. Remington and Sons began making side by side guns in the 1870s If this is an antique your best bet is to take it to an expert or to send a detailed description to one. Otherwise, modern pump / auto models are stamped on the right side of the receiver and the manufacture code is on the barrel.
You can check with Remington customer service. Most Remington firearms are dated by a 2 or 3 LETTER code on the left side of the barrel, very near the frame.
