no. i got mine pierced with a hoop and then like three weeks after i got it i put a bar in it and it was fine. it doesnt really make a difference as long as its meant for you belly button

When i got mine pierced, they let choose my ring in the shop that they pierced it with. The ring is usually a curved barbell for the navel. They don't use dangle barbells so you would most likely use a plain one.
