I got mine pierced about 2 months ago, they do'nt actually use a belly bar to pierce it, they clamp it, then shove this stick thing through then pull that out and put the belly bar in.
You can have your tongue pierced with anything that be run through an autoclave. I can see no advantages to gold over 316lvm stainless other than if you're allergic to the stainless and titanium, just a higher price tag.

Just don't get your cheek pierced. I believe it is a 3/4 inch bar?
Stick with the metal bar you were pierced with for the first couple of months.

Feeling the barbell of your navel piercing through the skin when you run your finger across it can be normal, especially during the healing process. However, if you notice any signs of migration such as the jewelry moving or skin thinning around the piercing, it's recommended to consult with a professional piercer to assess the situation.
When i got mine pierced, they let choose my ring in the shop that they pierced it with. The ring is usually a curved barbell for the navel. They don't use dangle barbells so you would most likely use a plain one.
