The two are both power supplies.

SMPS stand for "switch mode power supply" and uses high frequency switching to convert the incoming supply voltage to a controlled output. Normally, the input is AC mains and the output is DC voltage at 5V, 12V or 24V for example. SMPS is a very efficient way of generating regulated DC voltages. They can also be designed to deliver constant current as well as constant voltage and some cane be used as an LED driver.

An LED driver delivers current to an LED within the safe operating range of the LED. It can deliver a constant current or it can switch the current on and off at a high frequency to control the level of illumination. The driver is sometimes a switch mode power supply because in some cases, it uses switch mode techniques to control the output.

A range of LED drivers and LED power supplies can be viewed on the PowerPax UK website. They are one of the largest power conversion specialists in Europe and offer a warranty of up to years
