The Middle Ages of European history are a period in history which lasted for roughly a millennium, commonly dated from the fall of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century to the beginning of the Early Modern Period in the 16th century, marked by the division of Western Christianity in the Reformation, the rise of Humanism in the Italian Renaissance, and the beginnings of European overseas expansion. There is some variation in the dating of the edges of these periods which is due mainly to differences in specialization and focus of individual scholars.

The midlife crisis is a psychological event which puts the individual's life into crisis. This is the stepping stone to midlife transition. The unconscious mind, intent on making changes to the person's life, begins a series of adjustments, which are often felt by the individual as attacks. Yet these "attacks" break down the resistance of the person and allow for real life changes to take place.
The Renaissance was a time when people started thriving again after the black plague. The Medici family put in a lot of money to pay for local artists to do their life's work. Other people started donating money for artists. These people were called patrons. Patrons would pay for and artist to make art for the rest of their life. Due to all the artists with money for supplies and such, art began appearing everywhere. A "new age" (or Renaissance) began. Trade developed and explorers began seeking new trade routes. Magellan circumnavigated the globe, Columbus discovered the New World, and the Medici family started up the Renaissance.
