Well, it depends on what your normal calorie intake is, and what you want it to be. If you're basing foods on a 2,000 calorie diet, then something that is 1500 calories is very high because that would technically leave you with 500 calories for the rest of the day.
It is normal for girls to have about 2,000 calories; 3,000 is about the maximum. Boys generally have higher; especially if they are very active. The 'military diet' is designed to give guys about 4,000 calories a day.
