Alvastone is a high-density casting material derived from gypsum, made with granite, marble or other stone combined with a catalyst which toughens the material to help make it long-lasting.
It is used for sculptures, plaques, and so on, and can be finished to look like bronze, verdigrised bronze, or various types of stone. It is sometimes described as 'faux bronze', or similar names.
