What happens when people of different cultures and beliefs come into contact with one another?
Hello,
my Name is Allan of activagers an online social community for
baby boomers, generation x you name it. However what I wanted to say
is that what happens depends jsut on the cultures meeting and most
important on the characters involved.
My sister in example, a british young lady in her end 20s is
married with an Carribean. They share the same religion and
interests, but it took a while for him to adjust to the strong
female role here in Britain. Back home woman are respected, but not
necessarily like in Britain. You just can´t forbid your female
spouse to go out after dark. He needed a lot of time to adjust.
The same with beloved sister, she had to accept that when his
Carribean friends came to visit there weren´t really a lot of room
for woman in the table left. She then came to me arguing about all
this and that. But after 5 years and two visits to the Carribeans
they both have found a middle ground and most they respect each
other, otherwise I would have kick it out of my parents house where
they live today.
Other couples do not match, no matter the cultural
backround.Others fail because the cultural bridge is to shaky. An
Italian womanizer with a british country girl which happens to be a
strong Anglican follower and would never leave the Island because
she is shy of the sun and food down in Naples may not be the right
one. SO culture, religion, education, backround finances and interests
should somehow match. It makes it easier, but most important is the
love foundation and respect,open-minded will help a lot to make it.
In our company with a have people form 4 continents male and female
with various backrounds as described above, but we get 99% very good
along, because activagers is itself a pan-european social community
build to bridge and connect different people and cultures on the
basis of respect and open-mind.
