emergency fittings can by their very nature have a permanent l+n supply, normally via a key switch for testing. ie, to turn the supply off to the battery charger, which in turn drops a relay and brings on the light , powered by the battery for 3 hours . this fitting could be maintained or none maintained, that is on all the time or off . in addition to the permanent supply , depending on the fitting installed, you can have a switched supply, off the same mcb, which will turn the lamp on or off via a normal light switch , this fitting is called a switched maintained emergency. hope this helps. doug
IC recessed fixtures can be covered with insulation. Since insulation can be in direct contact with the fixture housing they reduce energy loss. The old type fixtures had to have a box of non combustable material built over the fixture for fire-proofing. Recessed fixtures have come a long way.
A vacuum is a non conductor.
The majority of socket outlets which are installed in homes and offices in the UK have switches because the cost difference is very small to get the convenience of having a switch for each socket. But go to any shop which sells them and you will find plenty of single and double socket outlets that have no switches. These are used when installers are trying to save a few pounds or they know that a particular outlet will not be used very much. Another reason they may be used is when a particular socket is fitted specifically to supply an appliance which should not be switched off "externally", such as a TV set-top box or a fridge/freezer. In the old days, before modern reliable switch materials were used for the contacts and springs inside switches, there was a risk that a switch might burn-out due to contact and/or spring failure over a long period of repeated use. This was more likely when a high-powered appliance was used, so a non-switched socket might have been preferred if likely switch usage was expected to be high. The quality of contact materials is generally so much better nowadays that this particular reason for fitting a socket outlet having no switch no longer applies.
Why not? It is possible. Try to search for "Non-coherent sequence detection"
Two examples of non linear resistance is a diode and a light bulb.
As far as I understand it maintained lighting stays on all of the time INCLUDING during power failure (the latter for as long as the back up battery stays charged). Non maintained stays off until the power fails and only then does the light come on, again for the life of the back up battery. If you need a luminaire / light that can be used as an ordinary domestic unit AND an emergency light then these, I believe, are called "combo" units and are generally pretty expensive.
maintained is where the light is constantly on all the time, For example,, when you go to cinema, There will be a maintained emergency light on the top of the exit door. This light will on constantly no matter the normal AC power outage or not. Non-maintained is where the light is normally off until power loss or emergency situation. For example, In the corridor , there always a non-permanent emergency luminary & a normal luminary. When the AC supply work well. We turn on the normal luminary to light the corridor by switch, The emergency luminary keep off. Once the AC supply outage, the normal luminary can't work. The non-permanent emergency luminary will turn on automatically.

Yes, ICS can be used to manage a large, non-emergency "event".
Non-electric appliances.
It's not all that much cheaper for non-emergency, apparently. A BLS amublance for non-emergency transportation isn't too much cheaper than an ALS ambulance that's used in critical cases.
no
If you are handy at do-it-yourself projects, yes it can be done by a non-prfessional. If you are not handy then you would definitely need to hire a professional to install your bathroom lighting.
