The Mossberg mod 46B was introduced in 1938 and dropped in 1940. As a good quality bolt action target rifle it should be worth $200 in reasonable shape. Mossberg collectors might well pay more. Check out the market at Auctionarms.com The 46b-b was produced after the Second World War, 1947 to 1949.
The 46B was made 1938-1946. The 46B (a) was made 46-47, and the 46B (b) was made 47-49.
There is a Mossberg 46B, and a 46B(b), but no B46B. The 46B is a bolt action .22 Target rifle, made 1938-1946, the 46B(b) was a later model, made 1947-49. I have a few of these- they are excellent target rifles.There IS a Mossberg Collector's Society, and a good history book of Mossberg guns (More Gun for the Money). Manufactured for Montgomery Wards, this is a Mossberg Model 46B. The 46B was made from 1938-1946. Most date from before 1942 (WW 2, Mossberg was making training rifles for US Navy). The 46B is an excellent rifle.
