1915 c n Newport 12 gauge coach gun
I have an older amadeo coach shotgun by rossi, it is nickel plated. Can you tell me if that is the way it came. Is it a shooter or wall hanger?
Rossi made 2 versions of there double barrel shotguns. The stage coach model with hammers and the "Squire" model that was hammerless. They were made from 1969-1989. Rossi is no longer in business. They were bought out by Braztech. Not a very rare or valuable gun. Just a good cheap shooting gun. As for value- the coach guns with the hammers range in value from $100-$150. The "Squire" model, hammerless version ranges in value from $125-$175 depending on condition. ................ Check again. The Rossi coach gun is now a collectors item and selling in the 4 to 500 bucks. Taurus now owns Rossi and still sells shotguns.

The term can from the old days when there was a stagecoach driver and an armed guard with a shotgun to protect the coach from being robbed. Side Note: It didn't always work.
Looks like an 18" or 20" double barrel side by side 10 ga. shotgun called a coach gun because of its use by Wells Fargo agents riding shotgun on it's stagecoaches for protection.

Anywhere between $1000 to $3000 depending on if you get rounds with it and if its customed and if u get it shipped.
The serial numbers all match. they are 25717. The stock is engraved Wells Fargo and Co. and is somewhat worn out over the years. Egraving on the face plate left side of gun, Enders Royal American. The Barrel is 21 inches long. In appearance it looks to be very worn and very old. It was sold to me as an original stage coach gun. Any info anyone has would be appreciated.

All brands were used. Shotguns, all of them, got the nickname "Coach guns" because they were carried on stagecoaches. A double-barreled shotgun was the preferred shotgun of the stage guard because it was hard to hit a bandit riding a horse while you were riding on top of a stage with running horses. The Shotgun gave a wide pattern of shot making it easier to hit your moving target.
A coach gun is a double-barrel shot gun. It has barrels about 18 inches in length placed side by side. The term "coach gun" was termed in 1858 when regular coach service from Missouri to San Francisco began.
