The collector value can only be assessed by a visual inspection & evaluation. Old Winchesters are very much like old classic automobiles... the graded condition and factory originality are the key factors in determining what they are truly worth. Bert H.
Being made during that time span I am not sure if iron will hold a nickel plating.I am surprised that you would want to destroy the collection value of such a early made Winchester rifle by attempting to Nickel plate the barrel of this rifle in the first place.All Winchester collectors would be willing to pay a handsome price for a original Winchester model 1866 rifle.
All my reference material says that the model 97 trench shotguns were made with a blued receiver.this includes the riot configuration also.It would make no sense to nickel plate these shotguns in military usage because the last thing that you would want is to draw attention to your self/give away your position with the bright reflective finish of nickel plate.
nothing nickel
Under $100.
You should be able to find a Exploded gun drawing of the Winchester model 190 at Numrich gun parts Corp.This will show you the position of the buffer plate in relation to the rest of the guns parts and positions. See http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Products.aspx?catid=7388
My records indicate that the winchester model 62 rifles were only made in the quantity of 410,456 rifles.The last ones made in the year 1959.I would check and see if you have the correct model number to your Winchester.
if your date of 1883 alludes to a trapdoor, then NO. however, some firearms owners did and still do have their firerms nickel plated and that reduces value greatly.
About $75, depending on condition. Yours is the 2nd Model, finish is nickel plate, not chrome.
NP=Nickel-Plate
Depending on condition and age, if could go from anywhere from $300-450.
$950-1100 Adjustable butt plate decreases value. No longer original stock.
sorry, no it won't. the trigger guard and floor plate, the hole spacing, the recoil lug, barrel, and several other measurements are proprietary to either post or pre 64 70s.
