It means that your nomal. My period lasts about 4-5 days, and it never caused any problems. However, if you've had sex before your period and it stops abruptly or does not come at all (though sex does change your schedule), then you might want to visit your doctor, you may be pregnant. You shouldn't have to worry if you're on Birth Control, but since condoms could break (if not used correctly) or they have a defect (such as a hole or something which is extremely rare) since sperm can survive in the uterus for up to 12 days.
