first of all you should make sure the receiver is christian, or at least has an open mind about Christianity. someone who does not fit this description will probably be offended at such a gift. as to what it means if they do, that you love them (in the platonic sense) and that you think they would enjoy reading it. some people i know have several bibles and would only enjoy getting such gifts.
