Well, if this is like preteen (9-11 i guess?) then he probably wants to show his friends that he isn't some pansy who hangs around with girls. I remember that I was like super awkward around girls also at this age. if this is like high school, then he is too immature to talk to you orrrr he is kinda intimidated by you (not too good with girls). Sounds odd that if you are a best friend to her, that when other people are around she tends to ignore you. Are you just a friend of convienence for her when its good for her?
