A tramp stamp is a badly put up slang for a lower back tattoo....Here in Alabama we refer to them as Southern Alabama License Plates...Which while not as derogatory, it shore does cause a lot of tail-gating!! Hope this helps........

Well, the nickname that is has made for itself is unfortunate, but it did become the standard issued tattoo of any woman who was anybody a few years back. They've fallen out of the extreme prevelance that they once had, but a lot of women still do like to get them, but you can always tell when they made a good choice as opposed to a bad one. You don't want to get something completely tired and overdone like some tribal and butterflies. Put some thought into it and get something that is cool and that you are happy with. It was originally intended to, and still is, simply a nice complimentary piece for a woman to have.
