Well to me, the candle represents the life that is burning away and eventually it will reach the skull, which, as expected, represents the death. This is a symbolism for the fact that life will pass by quickly and there is are lots of things to do before it ends, wasting time will be regretted when there's no more time left... What does a crow on a skull tattoo mean?
To me it means a few things combined. The crow represents the bird that was forgotten. A sense of failure, like in the old testiment when Noah sent out a raven and it never returned failing its test, while the dove succeeded and has been long remembered. The skull represents death, whether it be a near death experience or a struggle, or a loved one lost. I have that tattooed with roses underneath to represent the hope you can have by overcoming your struggles. I battled through thoughts of suicide and my tattoo of the crow on top of the skull with roses is a reminder that though I've struggled with thoughts of suicide and failed so many times there's always hope for the ones who have had it rough.

The white scab is called secondary healing. Pretty much, it is a brand new layer of sking growing over the top of the tattoo. Because the skin is fresh and an irregular pattern to it, it will look a little funny. Do not stress about it. If you give it about a week, that layer will peel off, and under it you will have a shiny layer over the tattoo. Give that a week, and you will be fully healed up. From the sounds of it, your tattoo is healing great, but if you have any further questions, you should go to the shop where you got the tattoo to have them look at it. It is really hard to make a call on how the tattoo is healing without being able to see it.
Can colored tattoo ink be put on top of black ink to cover up an old tattoo?
No. Black ink has to be covered with black ink.For example, if you got a tattoo that was all yellow and blue, you'd need to have it covered with darker ink. You can't go lighter, or else the old tattoo will show through.
