Today, Yuletide, or Yule, is another name for Christmas. In ancient Scandinavia, the word referred to the Winter Solstice celebration. Throughout modern Sweden, Norway and Denmark, Jule, or Jul, is the word for Christmas.

The Yulelog is a very old European winter tradition. An entire tree was brought into a house and part of it was burned each day in the fireplace. Nowadays, a yulelog is often a cake decorated to look like firewood, although many people burn a large block of wood on Christmas Day in their fireplaces.

"Yuletide treasure" probably refers to Christmas gifts.
