They were indentured servants. They were used mainly in the northern colonies and they were mostly poor white Europeans. Slavery of the African people, although tried, didn't work out well up north due to the harsh winter climate which took its toll on the people from tropical Africa.

The Clotilde is regarded as the last "slave ship" to bring slaves to America from Africa. It sank in Mobile Bay (Mobile, Alabama).Other Slave Ships:Henrietta MarieWandererWildfireLord Ligonier
It started when the Africans were sold as slaves to America. The Africans brought their syncopated rhythm from Africa and combined this syncopation with words to produce work songs. As the slaves worked, they sung these songs. In these work songs, the Africans used a concept called call and repeat, the foundation of the twelve bar blues. Eventually, the work songs evolved into what we call the twelve bar blues.
An African immigrant or a white African.
The middle passage was stage two of slave relocation as I call it. It was called the middle passage because it was the second of three stages and also because it was when slaves sailed from West Africa to now known as America. It was also the time when the slaves were squished together and were on the revolting boat. They tell you this in school but the do not give a more specific answer.
slaves
Slaves lives where mostly working in fields and crops working from dawn to dusk! Many slaves had unfair masters who beat them and treated them poorly. Many can from Africa and was carried to America. Many lost the there parents and siblings. They where sold from one owner to another. Some decided to run away from there masters and move north. They ran away with something call the underground railroad. This wasnt really a railroad it was a groups of slaves that felt they wonted to be free and used the stars to find there way to fredom.
From wherever they could be captured or purchased with trade goods. A very large number were from the area we now call Angola.
The reason it was called this was because of the trade route used for slavery. Ships went to Africa to pick up slaves from local tribes then travelled to America to sell the slaves to plantation where they picked up crops such as tobacco & sugar, then crossed the Atlantic again to sell the goods in London. If you plot these 3 countries and the route travelled on a map you create a triangle. Hence the Golden Triangle or triangle trade route.
