They are simply bits of the eraser that have been rubbed off from the friction against the paper.
One of my teachers years ago used to call them "pencil poopies".
I tried it many times, it does not come off all the way, but most of it comes off.

Yes, the ink from whiteboard markers (or dry erasemarkers) will not be absorbed by the plexiglass.
If you've already tried washing it with soap and water, then try an eraser. Regular kind or the Mister Clean Eraser thingy.
When you run a comb through bits of paper multiple times, the friction generates static electricity, causing the comb to become charged. This static charge attracts the bits of paper, causing them to lift and stick to the comb. As you continue to comb through the paper, more bits may be attracted and lifted due to the comb's increasing charge. Eventually, the bits of paper may fall off when the charge dissipates or when they are no longer attracted to the comb.
Smaller rocks.
It wears down the high bits (and the bits that come off fills up the low bits).

no but you will lose brain cells
To remove a kneaded eraser from carpet, first gently lift as much of the eraser as possible using your fingers. If residue remains, try dabbing the area with a cloth dampened in warm water to loosen it. You can also use a mild dish soap solution to help break down any remaining bits. Finally, blot the area with a clean, dry cloth to absorb moisture and residue.
lick it
there is no key to turn it off
When an eraser is rubbed against paper, the friction between the eraser and the paper causes small particles of the eraser to break off. These particles stick to the paper, leaving a mark and making the eraser appear to shrink in size. This process is known as abrasion.
Use a soapy eraser.
Take a pair of scissors and using the tip of one end of one of the blades, slice around the metal that holds the eraser, and then pull out the eraser. bite it off wit your teeth butt not to much grip
