The letters A, B, C, D and F are the traditional grades given, A being the best, C average and F the worst. In addition to this there are the letters: E, G, S and NI which are used most for younger children. In most cases E stands for 'excellent', G stands for 'good', S stands for 'satisfactory' and NI stands for 'needs improvement'.
