Christians supposedly celebrate the birth of Christ Jesus during Christmas. However, as you have probably noticed, this is not the focus of the season. Almost every aspect of Christmas has its roots in pagan tradition. False "Christian" rulers adopted December 25 as Christ's birthday to make the transition to "Christianity" easier on unbelievers since only the name of the celebration, not the customs, would change. Please look up for yourself the origin of Christmas in any Encyclopedia and you will see details of this cover-up.
While some of what is said above is true in that some of the traditions of Christians do come from pagan sources we must not forget why Christians do celebrate. The fact that we celebrate on Dec 25th is not really the point because no one knows for sure when Jesus was born but it is quite certain around this time. In fact Christians DO celebrate Jesus' birth at this time. The birth of Jesus IS the focus for the Christians. However it is more than this. It is God's gift to us and thus this is one reason we give gifts to each other. Some may say the wise men gave gifts to Jesus and this is the reason we give give gifts. Well that may be a partial truth but nevertheless a good point. Christians see Jesus as God's gift to us because he lived a perfect life and died a death we all deserve and upon our acceptance of Him as our Lord and Saviour we receive the free gift of salvation. Thus the Christian also celebrate this gift by giving gifts. I am aware that some people may disagree with this but this is in fact what Christian believe and this belief cannot be disputed. What I mean by this is that people may personally disagree with this but they cannot disagree that Christians celebrate Christmas for these reasons. I would imagine this would be a good thing to continue on the discussion section. so far there is nothing there.
