Actually, slavery has been around and practiced even still today as it has always for mankind. In fact, there are numerous references to slavery in The Bible. However, a slave in those days, was simply a person with debt. The bible also teaches that any person could never be held liable for debts that would require more than seven years to pay off. So in other words, it was considered immoral to enable a fellow human to accrue more debt than they could pay off within seven years. Anything more would fall on the loaner of said money's to assume himself.
