Possibly a hormone imbalance. It can do weird things!! I used to have periods twice a month, and then a went on Birth Control to make my hormones more steady.

If you are still young and have only just started you periods, it is nothing to worry about and is normal as your hormones are still regulating. If you have had regular periods in the past, it is important to go and see your doctor or gynaecologist. The chances are that it is nothing serious, but it's best to get checked out sooner rather than later. If you have never had regular periods, but have been having periods for a couple of years, it's also important to go and speak to your doctor, for the same reasons.
