I just purchased the same shot gun with a bird head handle.
Depending on condition, between $50-$150. W. Richards was a brand sold by Sears around 1900, and was playing on the name of an unrelated very high quality English gun, the Westley Richards (no relation) Laminated steel was the term used for a form of twist steel barrel. These should NOT be fired with any modern smokeless ammo- and should be inspected by a gunsmith before shooting anything. But it would look great over the fireplace.
Your gun was made between 1880 and 1914, probably by Henri Pieper. If the name is actually Rickard (with a K instead of an H), it was probably retailed by J A Rickard Co of Schenectady, NY. Chrome and laminated barrels don't belong on the same gun. Except for a few custom-made shotguns, laminated barrels were not produced after the 1920s and chrome was not used until the 1940s. The plating was added after manufacture. I must have been short of sleep when I posted that. The finish is probably a nickel plating which would be appropriate for a firearm of this age.
Need a detailed description of ALL markings and lettering.
Percussion instruments are instruments that can be tuned or not but tuned instruments are tuned.
It is a percussion instrument.
A pitched percussion instrument play numerous pitches (i.e. xylophone), while nonpitched percussion instruments play one pitch (i.e. snare drum).
No.
A standard barrel pattern in the WPRA is as follows: 60′ from the score line to the 1st and 2nd barrels 90′ from the 1st to the 2nd barrel 105′ from the 1st and 2nd barrels to the 3rd barrel This is a large pattern and many times it won't fit in smaller arenas. If you have to decrease it, do so proportionately. Hope this info helps answer your question.
The same as the difference between a tuned and un-tuned wind instrument or string instrument.
Pistol barrels range from 2" to 12", and almost every increment in between. Longer barrels increase accuracy, shorter barrels make for more compactness.
The companies will boast about how different they are, but really the only difference is the prices, the backs, and the designs.
mboe/d is millions barrels per day kboe/d is a thousand barrels per day (equivalent) MBOE is thousand barrels of oil equivalent NOT millions barrels of oil MMBOE is million barrels of oil equivalent
