What can you put under an inflatable pool that is on rocks instead of grass we tried tarps but were hoping for something better?

I think you were off on the right start. But try finding a roll of thick rubber mat (last longer than a tarp). Then cover it with a couple of inches of sand. This should give you a "safer" and more comfortable walking surface once your pool is filled with water.

We have always used the foamy squares. They interlock together and are about a half inch thick. Makes for a pretty smooth surface to set pool on and adds a little bit of padding.
