1. Aim- always make sure you're aiming in a safe direction. The thing you point the barrel at is what you're shooting, so... Be safe, 'kay?

2. Hold- be it rifle or pistol, flamethrower or bb gun, you have to have the proper hold. You don't force the gun into a direction, but you try to naturally grip the stock, grips, handle, etc, whilst remaining fixed on your target. You will shake. Deal with it.

3. Breathing- ask a surgeon, yoga instructor, or therapist, and they will ALL tell you that the best way to handle stress/pressure/nerves is to breathe calmly- in through the nose, out the mouth.

Trigger control- don't pull the trigger. Don't yank it. You gently squeeze it, that way you don't tug the gun in another direction, which is a lil detrimental to your aim, no?

5. Follow through- don't get sloppy after your first shot. I have a horrible tendency to fire at least half a mag of .9 before I realize my hand positions are wrong, my breathing's sped up, and I've lost my footing (footing's another fundamental, btw, stand at a slant, feet slightly farther than shoulder width apart, dominant at the back -my preference, not req.-). Relax, and be safe. Guns don't kill people, people with guns kill people without guns, and you're no longer the latter.
