Alcohol can be a good medicine for many ADHD bipolar and the like.. It was used all through history, and if you are a Christian believer, was prescribed by God himself, to joy the heart, and ease depression and poverty.
BUT, just like abusing any medicine from a doctor, the bad effects will out weight the good. Alcohol is a natural depressant.. not meaning sadness, but it calms in small amounts (glass or two), but when you tip the scale into drunk, the effects will be more evident in a AHD bipolar than one without these so called disorders. The danger for most ADD and Bipolar, is in their trials, they are susceptible to self medication. I myself am a bipolar schizophrenic and though i did have my battle with Alcohol in the past, with discipline I now drink in moderation with no ill effects as does my father (bipolar) and wife (ADHD - we like to stick together;).
Alcohol inhibits the release of anti-diuretic hormone from the posterior pituitary.
It should reduce some of the symptoms of ADH. However, consult a physician.
Inhibition of ADH release
ADH (alcohol dehydrogenase) ADH (alcohol dehydrogenase)
Yes, it is.
ADH stands for alcohol dehydrogenase. The ADH in the liver cells breaks alcohol down into acetaldehyde, and then another enzyme, aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH), rapidly breaks down acetaldehyde into acetate.
Alcohol (ethanol) acts on the hypothalamus to inhibit ADH secretion. This leads to diuresis and the typical repeated trips to the bathroom while at the bar drinking.
Yes. Alcohol inhibits anti-diuretic hormone (ADH) release in your brain. ADH aids in water reabsorption in the kidneys, so when ADH release is inhibited by alcohol your body cannot retain as much water so you will urinate more which can lead to dehydration.
antidiuretic hormone(ADH)
You have a hormone in your body called antidiuretic hormone of ADH for short. The purpose of ADH is to conserve your water by concentrating your urine. Alcohol inhibits ADH. So if ADH keeps you from urinating, then alcohol keeps you from keeping you from urinating. In other words, it makes you urinate more.
Inhibiting the release of ADH
caffeine, alcohol. I;'m trying to find more :)
Rohalla Rohani say yes. Trust me he is a doctor!
Drugs that decrease ADH levels include alcohol, beta-adrenergic agents, morphine antagonists, and phenytoin (Dilantin).
