The only downside to hallucinogens is the nausea, more so from shrooms then from lsd. Your perception of the environment moving one way while your body moves another, or remains still stimulates uncomfortable reactions. Much like how a person gets sea sick on a rocking boat.
Not everyone gets this nausea, and the ones that do typically find their own remedy. One popular method is to drink Orange Juice. Another is to chop or grind the shrooms into a tea. For a lot of people smoking marijuana fixes this problem. Usually fasting for a number of hours before ingesting can help, and avoid dairy products.
Just remember that about 10% of the nausea is real, while the other 90% is just in your head. Take your mind off of it and don't worry about it as to not ruin your trip.
