External users are parties outside the organization, such as customers and suppliers, who rely on information for decision-making. Their needs may include access to product information, order status updates, and pricing details. Internal users, on the other hand, are employees within the organization who need information to perform their daily tasks, make strategic decisions, and monitor performance. Their demands may involve access to operational data, financial reports, and analytics tools to support their work.

An internal user is a member of the organization. An external user is not a member of the organization. External users include investors, stockholders, and creditors. External users with a more general interest in an organization are customers, suppliers, the press, and regulators. Depending on their position in the organization, internal users would need on demand access to the information and would place a greater demand on the system than external users, who would need to request information from an internal user.

Why does a context diagram not show data stores?

A context diagram focuses on showing interactions between a system and external entities, such as users or other systems, without detailing the internal workings. Data stores are considered internal to the system, so they are not shown in a context diagram to keep the diagram simple and to maintain a high-level view of the system's boundaries and connections.
