Competition usually takes place between two or more people who challenge each other over something they each want to have.

On the other hand, you can also challenge yourself but not compete with yourself - unless you are competing to be better than your were before, which is a very worthwhile challenge. :) RK

Social would most likely be solely for the enjoyment of the game, while competition, possibly in a structured tournement scenario, is more "serious". Not to say that competition would be enjoyed less, but the desire to have a single winner over all of the "losers" is less prevalent.

there is no difference but competition is the theme of an event. so there can be more than one theme of an event for example a bday, a holiday party, graduation ceremony, bridal shower etc. hope this makes sense
