Well, both a fraternity is a group of guys. Gangs usually are all male but girls are often associated with some gangs. Fraternities often start in college and may continue afterwards. They have been known to do illegal acts, but that depends on the group. Most gangs, as in street gangs, do illegal stuff like selling drugs or fighting and stuff. People can join from a young age to older like 17 or 18.

They are similar because they usually are like a family for the individual involved. Often, they are joined because of a lack of family support or love. He or she may seek it from elsewhere-leading to a fraternity or gang.
