Newborns have a strong preference for the sound of the human voice, but toddlers may enjoy a wide range of sounds. The touch, taste and smell senses are mature at birth, and typically retain the same level of sensitivity through toddlerhood. A toddler has much better vision than a newborn. Babies cannot typically see in color until they reach four to six months. Toddler vision is sharper than newborn vision; toddlers can see and track moving objects at a greater distance than newborns can see.
