If you truly want to quit smoking. Make sure it is for yourself. Or it won't work. If you are tired of smelling like a cigarette, having to go outside to your car to smoke or stand in the freezing cold and rain to smoke, and/or hiding it from someone you love that you smoke, then it is time for you to quit.
These are the ways I have heard to quit and they do work:
Don't smoke a cigarette when you first wake up for the day.
You will want more afterwards. So don't smoke first thing you wake up.
Throw out everything in your home and rid of it for good cigarettes, lighters, pipes, tobacco, tobacco makers, everything having to do with cigarettes, ashtrays too! No matter how pretty they are! Get rid of it!
Tell your friends not to smoke in your home any longer.
Tell your friends not to smoke in your car.
Don't go out and hang out with your smoking buddies during breaks.
Bring crochet and/or something that relaxes you a book, whatever during breaks.
Don't overeat either!
Drink lots of water.
Have regular meals.
Snack healthy. Fruit and veggies.
Take walks during the lunch breaks.
Empty the smell out of your car of cigarettes too, no ashtrays take them out completely!
throw them out if you have to!
Take out the cigarette lighter too! Throw it out too
Clean the car and put in a air freshner that relaxes you.
Has nothing to do with cigarette smoke
After you eat you want to smoke.
Do crochet instead, a crossword puzzle, get on the computer and play a game.
keep your hands busy with stuff or read a book. cook if you like to cook.
On the weekends get out and walk.
Go to the mall where you cannot smoke.
All else fails.. get the patch!
