In the UK the working age is 16 (you can do a paper round before then)

When you are 16 you can start work, with limitations. Once you leave school (end of that school year) many of them limitations are lifted. Once you are 18 all working limitations are lifted.

Limitations include working times.

In the United States you must be at least 14 years old to have a wage-earning job outside the house. At this age, the hours are very limited and there are numerous restrictions to ensure you have time to sleep and go to school. At age 16 many of the restrictions on hours are lifted. At age 18 there are practically no restrictions on what you can do or how many hours you can work; you can't be involved in gambling or alcohol sales, but that's about it.
