There have been and continue to be many gay soldiers throughout all of history.
In antiquity, homosexuality was common among renowned warrior civilizations such as the Spartans, and the elite Sacred Band of Thebes was composed entirely of 150 pairs of homosexual lovers. All militaries throughout all time have had famous and accomplished soldiers who happened to be homosexual (usually covertly), and today there are many organizations dedicated towards supporting gay veterans and active soldiers.
Since there have been gay people for generations, there may have been gay soldiers even in the civil war era; but it is very unlikely they would have admitted it. Homosexuality was considered criminal and deviant back then, and if someone had those feelings, he undoubtedly repressed them. There was no-one to talk to about it, and writing about it would have been dangerous, given the very conservative attitudes in society. So, we may never know for certain.
Krauts was what American soldiers called them
It was believed that Santa Anna was gay and had affairs on each soldier and slept with hem yet it is believed that he slept with Sam Houston and had an affair
Soldiers is a noun; a plural, common noun. Collective nouns for soldiers include: A company of soldiers A boast of soldiers A division of soldiers A muster of soldiers A phalanx of soldiers A platoon of soldiers A troop of soldiers A squad of soldiers An army of soldiers A brigade of soldiers
There are about 23,000 German soldiers buried in in the Normady region.
Most likely, yes. However, the armies they worked for did not allow gay soldiers to serve in the army, so they had to pretend that they were straight.
2 main reasons. It shouldn't be seen as shocking that a gay person can be loyal and society shouldn't worry about them wanting sex overseas any more than straight men.Straight soldiers+gay soldiers=more soldiers
Gay people are allowed to serve in the U.S. military, but the approval didn't come from straight soldiers (straight soldiers do not have that kind of authority).
There's no way of knowing this, nor is there any way of finding out. Any numbers would be a complete guess.

feeling happy and gay
Yes. Baron Von Steuben was gay. Historians say that he had sodomy with other German soldiers. Yuck!
No. In fact nothing can make you gay if you were not born gay.
I've been doing research, and all I found is that he had some Sexual tendencies around the other soldiers, and that he liked to draw portraits of gay people. Also, When he had wrote his last letter, he wrote it to his mother and not his fiancé. I personally think that General Wolfe was gay, because he was acting strange around the male soldiers. Also: MANswers answered this: stating that General James Wolfe was a homosexual. There is not very much evidence, but even the soldiers thought he was gay. Hope this helps!
The only impact is that they increase the strength and numbers of U.S. Soldiers.
