The human body is capable of withstanding high levels of self-mutilation without the risk of dying. Several ways in which chronic self-harmers injure themselves are:
WARNING: DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE ACTS BELOW IF POSSIBLE, THEY ARE EXAMPLES, NOT SUGGESTIONS.
- Damaging the skin through burning or cutting into the skin with a sharp object (knife or blade, etc.)
- Punching either them self or objects repeatedly until the body is bruised
- Over exerting them self through continuous and exhausting exercise (do not confuse with people who exercise excessively or continuously, they may be perfectly stable and are working to a personal training program or schedule etc.)
- Overdosing on medication (such as painkillers and abusive, illegal substances)
- Starving them self (usually referred to as AnorexiaNervosa)
- Binge eating and purging (Bulimia Nervosa)
- Participating in highly dangerous activities, sometimeshigh-risk sports (not to confuse athletes of such sports as self-harmers)
Although the human body can withstand his levels of mutilation, it must be stressed that such acts can still result in death if acted upon with little control or during highly emotional times or if little knowledge about the body is known. If you are or are considering self harming, please attempt to seek medical or psychiatric help as soon as possible. If you find it difficult not to self harm though, please do take extra precautions and ensure you have easy access to emergency services if your life becomes at risk.
Self harming can become addictive. Stay safe and be ready to seek and accept help if your life becomes an issue.
For cutting, you can sharpen your finger nails to a point and then scratch until you bleed. Running into things is another option but very hard to do because your common sense part of your brain will tell your body to slow down- therefor, not as much impact :/
Another is burning. This method is easiest to cover up. You could say you were practicing cooking and 'accidentally' burned yourself on the stove. Another is puncturing your palm with push pins.
