From what someone told me who was on the band that I know personally, he was not only an alcoholic but also a drug addict. He used to get his drugs from Stan Mark. This is why Stan Mark lasted for so many years even with his unprofessionalism. Maynard used to drink a bottle of champaigne before he went out on stage and died from a pre-cirrhotic liver disease.
