The movie series, Child's Play, where the main character is a doll with the soul of a serial killer, may have contributed to the creation of the Tails Doll curse.
The curse starts with a story of a young boy who bought the doll and was killed by the doll in the same night. The parents found the body of the child with a knife in his hand and the doll beside him.
The most efficient way of summoning the Tails Doll is to play the song "Can You Feel The Sunshine" backwards, and that will in turn cause a red light to glow, which is the stone attached to the Doll's head. Keep in mind that none of this is true and it just a chid's story designed to scare people.

There are many accounts of proof stating the Tails Doll isn't real. However several people find this idea a goldmine for creativity in the horror section.
